I joined the Little Rock Police Department on April 4,1994. After graduating from the police academy, I began working as a patrol officer out of the Southwest Precinct. During that time, I worked as a Field Training Officer and was a member of the Hostage Negotiator Team. After five years of working patrol, I transferred to the Detective Division where I started out in the Domestic Abuse/Juvenile Crimes Squad. I was then transferred to the Homicide Squad and later to the Violent Crimes Squad. I enjoyed my time in the detective division, but when the department announced that they were going to add four new K9 Officers, I immediately put in to try out for the squad.
I joined the team in June of 2004. My first K9 partner was a red and black German Shepherd named Pascha. We worked together for almost a year before he had to be replaced. My new partner, Bady (pronounced "Baw-dee"), and I have been working together since November of 2005. Bady is an 84 pound sable colored German Shepherd from the Czech Republic born in June of 2004. After three months of training together, Bady was certified as a dual purpose police K9. We are currently assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division. Being a K9 Officer and working with Bady is the best job I've had in the police department. I couldn't ask for a better partner.
